4 the Love of Music #7

First article of 2014 and I hope that you had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year.
The 7th edition of #4theLoveofMusic features new music by Beyoncé, The Tennessee Whalers and Miley Cyrus and a Solange song I really enjoyed in 2013.

'Everything Seems Better When You Sing'

The Tennessee Whalers consists of Nick, Rand, Allan and Mark and you should look out for them this year because they will be releasing new music soon. I just can't get enough of their song 'Locks' and lucky for you I found it on noisetrade for free last year. You can listen and download for free there, and if you like it be sure to share or let them know on their Twitter. 'Locks' is the happiest break-up song I know and it sounds great in the car. I'm so excited for the new stuff they will be releasing!

'Just Treat Me Good and Baby I'll Give You the Rest of Me'

This song has a really great beat. Not surprised...it's a Solange song! The True EP came out November 2012, but I only started listening to it - a lot - in 2013. Solange is an artist that can never bore me. Her personal style and taste in music are so interesting. She's one of the reasons I started listening to Indie music in the first place and now that she started her own label we can enjoy more artists like her. I also really like how she shares her inspiration and her favorite bands.

'Life with You Means Love and Laughter'

So, I recently heard Miley Cyrus' latest album "Bangerz", and even though it's not really my style I did enjoy 3 songs on it. That includes: Wrecking Ball, Adore You and Rooting for My Baby. The other songs lack anything that has anything to do with soul, great lyricism or heart - or as I like to call it the 'Old Miley'.  I'm not one of those people who's going to pretend like Miley was never good, I mean songs like 'Bottom of the Ocean', 'Forgiveness and Love', 'Stay' and 'Obsessed' are songs that I will be listening to for the rest of my life. I guess we'll all have to appreciate the fact that there are 3 'old Mileys' on this new album.

'I'll Search Through the Crowd if Your Face is All that I See'

When it was time to start writing another edition of #4theLoveofMusic the only question was, which Beyoncé song would be in it - I mean, I couldn't even pick my favorite song. I recently realized that the reason why I think the album BEYONCÉ is a great album is because you really see her let go - she's more open than she used to be. It's an 'I'm have fun because I feel good' album and I normally don't like that but it's a great look for her! It's a celebration of her journey, female empowerment and life. Beyoncé is ***Flawless at being a BOSS and showing us how we - women - can achieve just as much or more than men. My favorites are ***Flawless, Drunk in Love, Blue, Heaven and XO. The video for 'XO' was directed by Terry Richardson and the amazing Fashion model Jourdan Dunn is in it. I really like her raspy voice in XO, it somehow makes it more romantic and the video makes the song even better. It's everything - the location, the simple jeans and racer-back tank look, the roller coaster, the flashing lights and the many-many accessories around her neck and wrist.

4 the Love of Music will now be released 4 times a year, instead of every month. I simply don't have the time that I used to have and I want to focus more on different kind of articles this year. That's why I have decided to cut down on music to broaden my blogging subjects. That makes it January, April, July and October of every year. The next edition will be released on April 4th 2014. See you then!
Much Love,

Resort 2014: Tribal 'Clover Canyon'

I am so ready to celebrate the fact that I can add Clover Canyon to my favorite brands list. I have just only heard about their brand 2 days ago and they are fairly new to the fashion industry. Giving the 2 years that they've been at this, they surely seem to know who their customers are. This season they took Resort to another level reaching for the customer that wants to turn heads when she walks out the door!

Inspired by Fifties Cuba - cigars, fruit and mosaic tiles - Rozae Nichols took care of the showstopping collection that looks amazing together as well as apart. Let's see what else she has mastered in this collection.

I couldn't choose one so here are My 2 Favorite looks:

As I couldn't choose my favorite out of this amazing collection, I simply chose the two looks that I want the most in my closet. Both of these looks are simple yet eye-catching and they have this personality of their own

Prints are truly a must for every Resort collection, without it being too busy for the eye. Clover Canyon made sure that the looks also had a Caribbean feel to them so that they also look relaxing. Another way to make the prints less busy is to make them symmetric and that's what Clover Canyon did. Even though the collection is cohesive you can split it in two: the black & white looks with a pop of color and on the other side the basic brown looks with the darker and subtle colors. As I love the contrast black and white and bright colors in between I enjoyed that part of the collection more.

They also styled the looks simple so that you really focus on the detailed collection. I loved the red lipped model, the customer who would buy and wear these pieces would also be bold enough to go for a red lip.

I love the entire collection but the 8 looks that are under 'the rest of the collection' are simply out of proportion or not well combined. When you work with these kind of prints volume or ruffles can't really play a big role in the pieces especially not around the arms or waist.

Here are the rest of my favorite looks:

Here is the rest of the collection:

Some brands design their collections based on two to three customers, but that most of the time fails to keep the cohesion of the collection. Clover Canyon however has one customer - which I like way more - that would wear one of these looks to the mall, one to a concert and one to an art gallery.

More importantly someone needs to call Solange Knowles to tell her that I'm ready for her to rule the red carpet in one of these pieces!
Much Love,

4 the Love of Music! #1

My love for music can’t ever be held back neither can my curiosity for finding new sounds and artists. I'm always looking for something new - even if it's old.
'4 the Love of Music' is simply my way of sharing more than just inspirational pictures on Tumblr and Instagram. Music is a big part of my life and a huge source of inspiration, not just for me but also for a lot of people. That's why I've decided to release 4 of my favorite songs on the 4th of every month!
Not always does the “mi casa es su casa” phrase work, but it does in this case! Here's a piece of my 18-year-young head & heart:

"I Play Tough As Nails With My Heart On My Sleeve"

I am going to start with one of my all time favorite songs because I feel like it was written for me. The young lady who sings it, is not a stranger in the Fashion World. She was my "Style Ruler" prediction for 2013 in '2013, the Year of...?' on DiFashionista. What makes this song even better is the fact that I also associate it with the DiFashionista Blog motto: "Style is Personality". Let this fun - fierce - fabulous masterpiece take you over:

Solange Knowles -
Sandcastle Disco
Album: Sol-Angel & The Hadley St. Dreams

"You Fill Your Pockets, Yet You Empty Out My Soul"

One of the things I can really appreciate in music, is: the truth. Pop  music is made for radio stations, but a lot of musicians - mostly Indie bands - have a habit of telling the truth no matter what. I have not heard from the band what this song is about, but this song describes the modern music industry that I get bored and/or annoyed with. It's not just the song that made an impact on me, but the video is also really really good:

Churchill -
Change
Album: Change EP

"Red Cars Are Quite Rare I've Realized, Then I Wondered Which Color You'd Like"

BOY consists of two girls with fresh faces that will light up your headphones with their eccentric and easy going music. The video is just as relax and free as their music. I just heard their album Mutual Friends and fell in love with this track:

BOY -
Little Numbers
Album: Mutual Friends

"Without Her I'm Lost, but My Love Don't Fade Away"

The British band Mumford and Sons have had a great 2013 start with an "Album of the Year" Grammy in their pocket for the album 'Babel'. Well deserved and well written, I must put them on the list. Their raw, eccentric and free-spirited music gets me through gloomy days. No it's not (only) the beards, but the combination of their acoustic- genre and the soul they put in it.

Mumford and Sons -
Reminder
Album: Babel

This is the first edition of “4 the Love of Music”. This new edition of DiFashionista is a monthly edition, that includes 4 songs that will be released on the 4th of every month. It’s basically me sharing my everyday inspiration. Let me know which ones u liked!
Much Love & Music,
