Aquilano.Rimondi RTW Spring/Summer 2013 collection!

Aquilano.Rimondi is a collection by Tommaso Aquilano and Romano Rimondi.
Aquilano.Rimondi's RTW Spring/Summer 2013 collection is really a combination of architecture and artistic hints. It reminds me of a trip I took to Barcelona. The city was so beautiful and alive and we went to a street filled with Gaudi's creations. It wasn't like anything I've ever seen; everything was designed and well put together. From the chairs to the entrance and the walls. Everything had something mosaic, some had black and white tiles with different colors in the middle and some had glass tiles where the sun would just shine right through it and that's what this collections reminds me of. Black and white go really well with a busy (or colorful) print and that's what makes these pieces so fun and bold. I also really liked the way he added volume to the dresses. Some he put like an umbrella, some in a peplum and some in layers. The red lips and the colorful statement shoes make the clothes even more daring.

Tommaso and Romano were inspired by the Venice Carnival, couturier Roberto Cappucci and Fellini's La Strada for this seasons collection. It's always great to hear what designers were inspired by (if it's not obvious of course) because it reminded me of a trip and to someone else it will definitely mean something else! What did it mean to you?

Fendi RTW Spring/Summer 2013 collection

Fendi made sure color was definitely part of the theme. From the yellow head bands to the color-blocking, every piece looks expensive and well made. Fergie surely knew what she was talking about in Black Eyed Peas' My Humps: "Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi and that Donna Karan, they be sharin'. All their money got me wearin'". Fendi goes back in history with their elite and prestigious fame. They must have a reason for being worth about 600 million!
The thing that really stood out was their neck lines (that also looked like their head bands). I like it when they incorporate accessories into the clothes to make it modern. The show wasn't extra feminine but it was more for the woman who likes to look modern with structured pieces with a bit more color. Overall the show was filled with show-stoppers, like the brown leather pants with color-blocking on the inside of the legs (look #15). The whole futuristic structured jacket (mostly leather) with the big shoulders and broad arms is slowly becoming a trend, but they did it in a special way with the pastel colors and the really round collars. They ended the show with a couple of glitter gold and grey/blue patterns which totally fit their glamorous esthetic. Their accessories were topnotch and the blue stripe under the models' eyes was really original.

Fendi is just one of those collections like Chanel, that will always be famous because they have a certain clientele that will always be there. Still it's really important to grow with your customers and with time and technology. More than that as a designer you should be ahead of time and technology. That's all that great designers do!
